The Government of Canada Supports Salon du livre d'Edmundston

EDMUNDSTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwire - April 10, 2008) - TheSalon du livre d'Edmundston will continue to promote Canadianwriters, as well as the French language and culture thanks to aninvestment from the Government of Canada.

Mike Allen, Member of Parliament (Tobique-Mactaquac), on behalfof the Honourable Josee Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage,Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced funding forthe 2008 event, which takes place from April 10 to 13.

This funding of $20,450 will help organizers of the Salon dulivre d'Edmundston offer many different promotional activities forCanadian writers.

"I would like to congratulate the organizers and volunteers ofthe Salon du livre d'Edmundston for their admirable work over thelast 20 years," said Minister Verner. "This book fair is a not-to-be-missed literary event in New Brunswick. It offers writers fromthe region and across Canada an excellent opportunity to showcasetheir talent and creativity to audiences looking to make newdiscoveries."

The Government of Canada has provided this support under theCollective Initiatives component of the Book Publishing IndustryDevelopment Program. This program of the Department of CanadianHeritage seeks to increase the capacity of the Canadian-owned and -controlled sector of the industry to publish and market Canadianbooks domestically as well as internationally.
